Common Name The Line Bearing Oncidium

Found from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Santander and Antioquia departments of Colombia and Bolivar and Los Rios provinces of Ecuador in tropical, wet forests, dense wet secondary forest at elevations of sea level to 2000 meters as a large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte or occasional terrestrial with oblong, laterally compressed, ancipitous, coarsly sulcate pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several leaf sheaths and carrying a single, apical, elliptic-oblong, subcoriaceous, obtuse and apiculate leaf that is conduplicate below and strongly carinate abaxially that blooms in the fall on a lateral, paniculate, 3 to 4.5' [1 to 1.5 m] long, many flowered inflorescence carrying fragrant flowers.
