Found in La Caraça - Pic Da Carapuça - Minas Gerais, Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo states of Brazil and Venezuela in open rocky places, shrublands and rarely in forests at elevations around 800 to 1000 [2700] meters as a small sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial or lithophyte with cylindrical, smooth, slightly to strongly compressed and lightly grooved with age pseudobulbs with an occasional basal leaf-bearing sheath and carrying 2, apical, light green, acute, lanceolate, thin, stiff leaves that blooms in the summer through fall on a basal, erect, paniculate, to 39" [100 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with 3 to 4, short, loosely 3 to 7 flowered branches and carrying scentless flowers.
