Found in Meta department of Colombia in the Serrania de la Macarena at elevations of 1300 to 1500 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphtye with a short rhizome giving rise to narrowly oblong-ovate, laterally compressed, roundly 2 edged pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, lanceolate leaves that blooms on a paniculate, heteranthous, nodding, peduncle short to 12" [30 cm] long, rachis to 36" [90 cm] long, to 30 branched, each branch short and spreading, to 12 twigged, each twig spreading, many flowered inflorescence carrying numerous sterile flowers with only a single normal flower at the ends of each twig.
Similar to O ornithocephalum but it has an orbicular lip that is apiculate apically without a pilose blade and is 7 lobed with 3 to 5 distant warts on each side as well as a process below the stigma or base of the column wings.
