This species is endemic to France in short poor grasslands, hay meadows, scrub and scattered oak woods at elevations of 400 to 800 meters and is a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid that blooms in the spring on an erect, 5 to 8 flowered inflorescence.
