Found in France and Spain in short grasslands, garrigue, woodlands and pinewoods at elevations of 100 to 1100 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid that blooms in the spring on an erect, near lax, 3 to 7 flowered inflorescence.
