Common Name The Small Oreorchis - In China Ying Ye Shan Lan

Found in western Sichuan, northwestern Yunnan and western Hubei in alpine grasslands, forests and thickets on soil covered rocks at elevations of 2500 to 4000 meters as a mini-miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with oblong to subovoid, 2 to 3 noded pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, ovate to narrowly elliptic, plicate, subrounded to broadly cuneate and abruptly contracted into a distinctly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect, 3.2 to 6.4" [8 to 16 cm] long, subdensely 2 to 14 flowered inflorescence with 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and ovate-lanceolate floral bracts.
