Common Name The Two-Horned Ornithocephalus

Flower Size 3/16" [4mm]

A miniature, epiphytic, fan shaped, monopodial species found in jungle forests at altitudes of sea level to 1100 meters from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and on to Venezuela, it is a hot to warm growing plant with fan-shaped , equitant, rigid, lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, acute, leaves that are articulated to the imbricate basal, leaf sheaths from which it blooms in the winter and spring on an axillary, racemose, to 3 1/2" [6 to 9 cm] long, few to many flowered inflorescence that is equal or longer in length to the leaves and has broadly ovate or orbicular bracts and small flowers.

This species is best mounted on cork, tree fern or wood, given shady, humid conditions with even, year round waterings.
