Found in French Guiana, Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia and Brazil along creeks and rivers in rainforests as a to giant sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte, terrestrial or lithophyte with a pendant, green to maroon stem enveloped by tubular, longitudinally striped, grey sheaths and carrying clear green, glossy above, dull beneath, alternate, elliptic, obtuse, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the summer, fall and late winter on a terminal, racemose, few flowered inflorescence
