Found in Venezuela, Guyana, Fr Guiana, Surinam, northern Brazil, Ecuador and Peru in extremely wet lower montane forests at elevations of 450 to 1770 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a fan of variabler, obliquely lanceolate, subfalcate, articulate to the sheaths, conduplicate fused, strongly complanate, fleshy leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on axillary, peduncle and bracts glabrous, about equal to the leaves, .68 to 1.48" [1.7 to 3.7 cm] long, 7 to 10 flowered inflorescence.
Many sources put this species as a synonym of O gladiatus
