Common Name The Rigid Orthoceras - The Horned Orchid

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia as well as New Caledonia and New Zealand as medium to large sized, cold to cool growing terrestrial orchid occuring at elevations of sea level to 1000 meters in heathy, open forest; often found in moist sites and grassland with 1 to 3, ovoid to fusiform, underground tubers giving rise to 3 to 5, basal, linear, unequal in size leaves that flowers in the summer on an erect, 20" [50 cm] long, successively several flowered inflorescence with long floral bracts and carrying 1 to 9 flowers.
