Common Name or Meaning The Wreath-Shaped Otoglossum

Flower Size 3.5" [9 cm]

Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru on steep banks in cloud forests at elevations of 1500 to 1600 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte or terrestrial with ovate, laterally compressed, shallowly longitudinally grooved pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several distichous, overlapping leafless and leafbearing sheaths and carrying a single, narrowly elliptical to oblong, thin, channeled above, keeled below, acute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on an axillary, erect, stiff, to 20" [to 50 cm] long, 7 to 13 flowered inflorescence and carrying closely spaced, very showy flowers
