Common Name The Beautiful Otostylis
Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]
Found in Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam and Northern Brazil in open areas at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters as a medium to large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with rudimentary ovoid pseudobulbs completely enveloped by close-fitting, very long grey sheaths that also cover part of the petiole and carrying 1 to 2, erect, lanceolate, plicate, mid vein carinate dorsally, medium green, acute, gradually narrowing below into the elongate petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, racemose, shiny dark puce, to 28" [to 70 cm] long, 4 to 10 flowered inflorescence.
