Found in the department of Antioquia, Colombia in cloud forests and high elevations montane forests at elevations around 2700 to 3900 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with an erect to ascending, densely leafy stem carrying all along the stem, lanceolate, attenuate towards the acute apex, basally twisted, conduplicate, rather thick, apical margins minutely ciliate leaves that blooms in the later summer and early fall on an axillary, short to .2" [5 mm] long, longer than the leaves, 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence with triangular, acute floral bracts.
This species is similar in habit to P hispidulus Rchb. f. and P. schultesii L. O. Williams, and is distinguished by having ciliate leaf apices and sheath margins as well as by a sub-orbicular-pentagonal lip.
