Found in Costa Rica in primary forests at elevations of 30 meters as a small sized, hot growing terrestrial with a stem carrying plicate, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on a 2" [5 cm] long, successively single, few flowered inflorescence with 1 or 2 lanceolate bracts and narrowly triangular-ovate, acute, heavily veined floral bracts and carrying a purple flower
