Found in Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia in primary forests at elevations around 100 meters as a large to giant sized, hot growing terrestrial with an erect, elongate stem carrying several deciduous, plicate, elliptic, acute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms after leaf fall on an axillary, to 2" [5 cm] long, simple to branched, successively single flowered inflorescence
