Found in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Surinam and Ecuador in tropical wet forests at elevations around 500 to 1000 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with erect stems carrying 3 to 4 apical, subchartaceous, plicate, 7 nerved, elliptic, acute to acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the mid summer through mid fall on a terminal, to 2.8" [7 cm] long overall, rachis 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long, successively single, few flowered inflorescence with broad, elliptic to lanceolate-ovate, acute to acuminate floral bracts.
