Common Name Henry's Paphiopedilum [Irish Plant Collector in China] - In China Heng Li Dou Lan
Flower Size 1 3/5" to 2 1/2" [4 to 6 cm]
Found in southwestern Guangxi and southeastern Yunnan provinces of China and northern Vietnam near their borders in semi-deciduous, broadleafed, mixed and coniferous, mossy, open forests on steep highly eroded limestone cliffs at 610 to 1400 meters in elevation as a rare, smaller sized, warm to cool growing lithophyte with 3 to 6 distichous, lanceolate or linear-ligulate, obtuse, unequally bilobulate or minutely tridenticulate apically, sharply keeled beneath, glossy dark green above, paler green below leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a single flowered, erect, 4 3/4 to 6" [12 to 15 cm] long, green to purple brown pubescent, terminal inflorescence with brownish or brownish green,. narrowly ovate, conduplicateciliate, shorter than the ovary floral bract.
