Found in the islands of the straits of Malacca and Sumatra in leaf litter within coniferous forests and on rock ledges at elevations of 900 to 1300 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing, terrestrial species with elliptic to oblong, mottled light and dark green, bifid apically leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect, terminal, 12" [30 cm] long, dark purple, pubescent, single flowered inflorescence with an elliptic-lanceolate floral bract.
