Common Name The Worm-Carrying Paphinia [refers to the 2 worm-like protuberances at the base of the lip which separate this species from all others in the genus]

Found in Cocle department of Panama in el Valle de Anton in very wet cloud forests at elevations of 800 to 1000 meters as a small sized, warm growing epiphyte with ovate, somewhat flattened, indistinctly 4 angled pseudobulbs enveloped by sheaths and carrying thin, elliptic, acuminate, narrowing towards the base leaves that blooms in the later summer on a basal, pendulous, few flowered inflorescence and carrying greenish, pale tan flowers heavily marked [especially the petals] in dark red.
