Common Name The Vanda-Like Papilionanthe - In China Wan Dai Feng Die Lan
Flower Size 1 1/2 to 2" [3.8 to 5 cm]
Found in Assam, eastern Himalayas, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Myanmar and southern China at elevations of 1200 to 1750 meters as a large sized, cool growing, erect to pendant growing epiphyte that forms large masses of branching, hanging, flexuous stems carrying suberect, terete, acuminate, sulcate leaves with the leaf bases being longitudinaly grooved. The plant blooms in the spring with a 1 to 3 flowered, 1' [30 cm] long inflorescence arising from the stem in between the leaf bases and carries 1 to 4, fragrant flowers.
