Common Name Ekman's Pelexia [Swedish Botanist collected in Dominican Republic earlier 1900's]

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Brazil, Missiones province of Argentina and Paraguay at moderate elevations as a just medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a few, lanceolate, acuminate, not there at blooming, grading to bracts above leaves that blooms on a terminal, erect, to 16" [35 cm] long, enveloped by 8, non imbricate, acuminate bracts, rachis to 4" [to 10 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with linear, long acuminate, lower ones longer than the flowers, upper shorter that the flowers floral bracts and carrying flowers that face in all directions.

"The flowers are striking at first glance due to their antenna-like, spreading, lateral sepals. This feature is not found in any other previously described species. The pubescence extends to the labellum. The column is exceptionally soft-skinned and lacks the sometimes cartilaginous firmness of otherers in the genus." Kraenzlin 1911
