Found in Santa Catarina state of Brazil at elevations below 600 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial without leaves at blooming occurring in the early summer on an erect, terminal, rather delicate, peduncle 10.4 to 10.6"[26 to 26.5 cm] long, provided with 9 to 14, acute, herbaceous, thin, adnate to the stem, longer than the internodes, reaching up to the rachis base sheathing bracts, glandular below the rachis to 3.6" [8 to 8.3 cm] long, multilateral, laxly to densely 15 to 25 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, thin, herbaceous, densely glandular on the margins, much longer than the ovary floral bracts.
The species is easily distinguishable from other members of the genus in its unique lip structure. The hypochile is ribbon-like below the auricles, then ovate-rhomboid to orbicular in the apical half. The auricles are furnished with very small appendages at the apices. The epichile is triangular to sagittate and acute at the apex. There are no callosities on the disc and the spur is sac-like and shorter than the ovary and adjoined to it."
