Found in Guyana, French Guiana, Surinam and Amapa province of Brazil in walaba forests at elevations of 550 to 710 meters as a small sized, warm growing terrestrial with 4 to 5, gathered in a basal rosette, oblong-lanceolate, cuneiform to rounded into the narrow, channeled, 1.6" [4 cm] long, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later summer and early fall on an erect, terminal, leafless at blooming, strict, peduncle to 8" [20 cm] long, smooth, quite slender, sparsely glandular-hirsute below, provided with 8, subulate, glabrous, sterile sheathing bracts, rachis laxly 10 to 16 flowered inflorescence with subulate, glandular-hirsute, smaller than the sheathing bracts, longer than the ovary floral bracts.
Compared to Pelexia laxa but the oblong-lanceolate, long-petiolate base leaves are dark brown above and light brown beneath. The .8" [2 cm] long, flowers have a long blunt sepal sac. The labellum is broadened from a narrow base towards the front, indistinctly trilobed with blunt lateral lobes and provided with 2 fleshy auricles at the base." Schlechter 1920
