Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil on stony dry soils in low shrubby vegetation at elevations around 1015 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial without basal leaves at blooming, with a red brown stem erect, plump, hairy stem provided with 6 well-spaced, acute, amplexicaul, first 2 basal, rest above sheaths that blooms in the winter on an erect, upper 1/5th of the stem, 3.6" [9 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with triangular-oblong, acuminate, shorter than the green pedicel floral bracts and carrying outward facing on all sides flowers.
