Found in Colombia and Venezuela at elevations around 1000 meters as a small to just medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial orchid with lanceolate, acute, whitish yellow spotted gradually narrowing below into the elongate, channeled, petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, terminal, peduncle to 12" [30 cm] long, reddish gray, enveloped partially by narrowly lanceolate, acute sheathing bracts and has a 4" [10 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence with linear, acute, longer than the ovary floral bracts.
"This species is vaguely reminiscent of Cyclopogon lindleyanus both with a grooved petiole with an oblong pointed blade but the new species has a 3" [7.5 cm] long petiole with a 2" [5 cm] long, blade with whitish yellow spots that turns reddish when withered. It has a 12" [30 cm] long stalk that is reddish gray, densely flowered rachis about 3" [7.5 cm] long, with whittish reddish bracts, green flowers that are distinguished by the so called three humped false spur running dpwn half the ovary. The terminal part of the lip is sepia brown." Rchb.f 1885
