Found in southeastern Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial orchid with basal, erect, thinly membraneous, oblong, acute, abruptly contracted below into the pseudo-petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late spring on a terminal, erect, 18" to 20" [45 to 50 cm] long, rachis to 10" [to 25 cm] long, 20 to 35 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, as long as the ovary floral bracts.
