Common Name The Orobanche-Like Pelexia [refers to the plant resembling a plant from the genus Orobanche]

Flower Size .4" [1 cm]

Found in Parana and Sao Paulo states of Brazil as a small sized, warm growing terrestrial orchid with basally rosulate, petiolate (2.4" [6 cm]) long, base leaves that are not present at blooming occurring in the later spring on a terminal, erect, peduncle 5.4 to 17.4" [13.5 to 43.5 cm] long, provided with 5 to 9, narrow, acute, herbaceous, more or less imbricating shething bracts, rachis 1.8 to 3.4" [4.5 to 8.5 cm] long, 5 to 35 flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, margins ciliate, acuminate, longer than the ovary floral bracts.

The closest related species is Pelexia hysterantha but it is large, slender and few flowered and with different details of the larger flowers.
