Common Name The Lagoa Santa Pelexia [A lake and town in Minas Gerais state]

Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil at elevations below 800 meters as a small sized, warm growing terrestrial with a few, a radical, reflexed, ovate, acute, abruptly contracted and subtruncate into the long-petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, robust, leafless at blooming, peduncle 1.8 to 5.2" [4.5 to 13 cm] long, dark brown, provided with several, imbricating, membraneous, acute to shortly acuminate, slightly pubescent, glabrous below sheathing bracts, rachis 2.4 to 2.8" [6 to 7 cm] long, laxly 8 to 10 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, long acuminate, very shortly pubescent, as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying quite small flowers.
Schlechter compared this species with to Sarcoglottis fasciculata but P sancta is more floriferous and distinguished by having a wider and more panduriform labellum at the base with a widely reniform-rhomboidal apical blade pointing downwards. Hoehne compared this species to Sarcoglottis schwackei but with much smaller, similar floral segments.
