Found in Paraguay without locality as a large sized, cold growing terrestrial with 4, on the basal part of the stem, lanceolate, acute, narrowing bewlow into the 5.2" [13 cm] long, petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, delicate to stout, glabrous,, glandular just below the rachis, denser above, peduncle 20 to 22.8" [50 to 57 cm] long, provided with 7 to 10, acute, herbacoeus, thin, adnate to the stem, longer than the internodes, upper sparsely glandular, rachis 3.6 to 7.6" [9 to 18 cm] long, multilateral, lax, 20 to 60 flowered inflorescence with

"Similar to Pelexia oestrifera but with a different lip structure. P schmidtinnum has the lip deeply constricted below the auricles which are prominewnt and flshy on the margins. The hypochile is widest in the apical half and pandurate in outline. The epichile is cordate, acute, sometimes with small thickenings at the base and slightly wider at the base than the hypochile.
