Common Name Kidman Cox's Pennilabium [Original Collector of the TYPE species]

Found in Sabah Borneo in montane forests at elevations around 1400 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with often several joined at the base, erect, spreading to pendent, rather compressed stem carrying 8 to 17, ligulate-subfalcate, incuring towards stem apex, slightly constricted towards the apex, unequally acutely bilobed apcially leaves that blooms on several, lateral, arising from the base oppposite the leaf bl;ade, pendent, glabrous, 1.2 to 2" [3 to 5 cm] long overall, peduncle .6 to 1.12" [1.5 to 2.8"cm] long, filamentous, terete, very slightly alate, provided with 2 to 3, ovate, acuet, remote, bracts, rachis .28 to 1.4" [7 to 3.5 cm] long, fractiflex, narrowly alate, green, 1 to 7 flowered inflorescence with triangular-ovate, acute, arranged in 2 alternate rows, , pale green, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying probably ephemeral, wide open, fragrant flowers with straw yellow to pale orange-yellow to brown sepals and petals that are stained mauve at the base, a white lip with a conspicuous, deep mauve-purple to purple amethest area around the base of the mid lobe and side lobes the spur pale orange-yellow, a white column and a pale greenish anther.

"Similar to P naja but is distinguished by the longer stems, an inflorescencce with a shorter, narrowly alate rachis carrying up to 5 simultaneously oprning flowers bourne in 2 distinct, alternate rows. the flowers have straw yellow to pale orange-yellow to brown sepals and petals, an ecallose lip with an oblong-elliptic, straight mid-lobe and flabellate , erose side lobes, a shorter spur without a swollen apex, a shorter column with a shorter, ligulate, minutely trifid rostellum" J J Smith etal 2011
