Found in the eastern Himalayas, Assam and Thailand where it blooms in the summer
CAUTION From what I can gather from the scant information that there is available to me, the difference between this species and P struthio is this one has hirsute apices of the petals and P struthio does not, P proboscidium has the rostellum easily visble and the apeces to the lip is rounded in P Proscidium and in P struthio it is squared off, otherwise they are very similar.
