Found in Assam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, the Moluccas, Sulawesi, Sumatra and New Guinea? in hill and lower montane forests, scrublands and roadside verges at elevations around 150 to 1700 meters as a medium to large sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with an erect, basally sheathed stem carrying 5 to 10, lanceolate, acute, .8" [2cm] distant, starting 6" [15 cm] above ground leaves that blooms in the spring through summer on an erect, 8" [20 cm] long, to 10 flowered, racemose inflorescence with well spaced, small flowers and narrowly lanceolate, acute floral bracts.

This orchid has variable shapes to the lip. The lateral lobes of the lip can be short and straight or curled or long and curled around in a circle.
