Found in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka in dry deciduous forests, moist
deciduous forests, semi-evergreen forests at elevations up to 800 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with cylindric-oblong tubers giving rise to a robust, leafy stem carrying oblong-lanceolate, acuminate to acute, wavy, strongly veined beneath, subampleicaul below into the base leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal, erect, 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, longer than the ovary floral bracts.
