Found in southern Hainan province of China in crevasses along valleys at elevations of 100 to 200 meters as a medium to large sized, hot growing terrestrial with ovoid-conic pseudobulbs carrying about 4, green, plicate, oblong-ovate to broadly lanceolate, brown scaly hairy, acuminate apically, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on an erect, basal, to 16" [40 cm] long, longer than the leaves, sparsely blackish brown hairy, 5 to 12 flowered inflorescence with caducous, ovate, sparsely blackish brown hairy, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
