Found in southeastern Yunnan and northern Vietnam in forests at elevations aound 1300 meters as a medium to large sized, cool growing terrestrial with a stem-like, cylindric pseudobulb carrying 6 to 7, plicate, elliptic, glabrous, acute leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, from the lower or basal nodes of the pseudobulb, to 18" [45 cm] long, sparsely 5 to 6 flowered inflorescence with caducous floral bracts and carrying widely opening flowers
