Common Name Bastian's Phalaenosis [Son of Co-Author of Species current]

Flower Size 1 3/8" to 1 3/4" [3.5 to 4 cm]

Found in The Philippines in the Sulu Archipelago at elevations of sea level to 610 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with a short stem carrying 2 to 10, obovate-elliptic, cuneate, rounded and notched apically leaves and blooms in the spring through fall on an erect to arching, 6 to 20" [15 to 50 cm] long, branched inflorescence with each branch carrying from 2 to 7, flat, glossy flowers and is very similar to P mariae but differs in the erect inflorescence and very flat floral features of the flower of P bastianii.

"The species is very similar to P mariae but P bastianii has an erect inflorescence with fewer blooms, with flat floral segments, spare trichomes on the mid-lobe of the lip and a low and smoothed keel. The leaves and flower stems are bright green to greenish yellow.
