Common Name or Meaning The Fleshy Pholidota

Found in Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Lesser Sunda Islands, Moloccas, Bismark Islands, New Guinea and the Philippines in lower montane forests oak/laurel and moss forests at elevations of 900 to 2100 meters as a small sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with a creeping, climbing, hanging, freely branching rhizome enveloped by large, brown sheaths and carrying close set, to 1.2" [3 cm] between each, oblong to oval, setting at an acute angle on the rhizome, reddish to brown pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, narrowly lanceolate, acute, 3 veined, basally petiolate leaves that blooms in the spring on a to 6.2" [16 cm] long, fractiflex, arching inflorescence arising from the apex of newly developing pseudobulbs with oval, acute floral bracts that fall off early on and carrying several flowers that are alternately opposite on the rachis.
