CAUTION Many references place this species as s a synonym of Phragmipedium schlimii [Linden ex Rchb.f] Rolfe 1896 but it differs in its transversely pandurate staminode, that is distinctly wider than long and with an emarginated apex. All others have staminodes that are longer than wide except P manzurii which has a suborbicular staminode." Szlatchetko & Kolanowska 2017
