Common Name Warscewicz's Phragmipedium [Polish Botanist and Collector 1800's]

Found in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia? in cloud forests on inner banches of trees and on on alluvial soils on karstic substrate at elevations around 2000 to 2800 meters as a medium sized, cold growing, caespitose, humus epiphyte with 5 to 6, distichous, basally imbricating, ligulate-oblong, obtuse, coriaceous, bright green, paler at the base leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, terminal, peduncle velutinous, shorter than the leaves, 8" [20 cm] long, pubescent, rachis .8 to 4.4" [2 to 11 cm] long, almost simultaneously 2 flowered inflorescnece with imbricating, green tinged with red on the external surface, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying very showy, somewhat pendent flowers.
Differs from P caudatum in the larger flowers and a shield-like to transversely rectangular staminode with 2 symentrical, triangular-oblong divergent lobes. Both P caudatum and P wallisii have white to yellow with dark dots on the mouth of the lip while P warscewiczianum has a yellow brown colored mouth." Szlatchetko & Kolanowska 2017
