Found in New Guinea on trees in forests at elevations around 2400 meters as a medium sized, cold growing epiphyte with suberect, ligulate, obtuse, bidentate, apically, gradually narrowing towards the base leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, peduncle few bracted, rachis cylindrical, 16 to 12.8" [20 to 32 cm] long, densely multi-flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.
Schlechter states that the flowers are white.
