Found in the New Guinea on trees in forests at elevations around 130 to 400 meters as a hot growing epiphyte that blooms in the early summer through early winter.
Schlechter states that the flowers are white and the leaves of this species and P gracilis are not blue green like P imitans and P scaphioglossa. This one differs however in the flower morphology. This orchid has a somewhat restrained lip claw at the base of the disc.
