Found in New Guinea on trees in forests at elevations around 1200 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte that blooms in the early summer.

Schlechter states that the flowers are white. Schlechter states that this is the largest Phreatia from New Guinea and upon superficial examination this species is similar to Eria validor. This species is unique in its lip shape.
