Common Name Edgeworth's Platanthera [British Botanist and Civil Servant in India mid to late 1800's]
Flower Size .15 to .2" [3 to 5 mm]
Found in the western Himalayas, Pakistan, the eastern Himalayas and Nepal in scrub on open hillides at elevations of 1200 to 3600 meters as a medium sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with small, fusiform, ellipsoid to subglobose tubers giving rise to an erect, leafy stem carrying 3 to 4 lower broadly ovate, becoming ovate to oblong-lanceoate up the stem, bract-like above, sessile leaves that blooms in the late spring through summer on an erect, terminal, cylindric, 3.2 to 8" [8 to 20 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
