Found in northwestern Yunnan province of China and Sikkim in bamboo forests on slopes at elevations of 3600 to 3800 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a narrowly ellipsoid tuber giving rise to an erect stem carrying 1 to 2, basal, oblong, acutebasal one larger, upper one bract like, leaves that blooms in the later summer on an erect, peduncle slender, to 4' [10 cm] long, provided with a small bract, rachis to 2.4" [6 cm] long, 8 to 9 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate longer than the ovary floral bracts.
