Found in Taiwan in uplands grass and herb fields at elevations around 3050 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a tubular, ovoid to oblong, fleshy rootstock giving rise to 3, basal, oblong, acute, obtuse and slightly cordate below into a short tubular base leaves that blooms in the later summer an erect, stout, glabrous, slightly angular, 12 to 16" [30 to 40 cm] long, provided with a tubular, acute, brownish basal sheath and 3 to 4, lanceolate, gradually smaller above, acute bracts, densely 15 to 25 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying pale yellow flowers
