Common Name The Broad Lipped Herminium - In China Bai He Shen
Flower Size .3 to .45" [.8 to 1.1 cm]
Found in Pakistan, Western Himalayas, eastern Himalayas, Nepal and China in scrub on open hillsides, deciduous oak forests, clearings and shady banks in disturbed secondary forests at elevations of 1600 to 3200 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect stem carrying 4 to 5, elliptic-oblong, acute to acuminate, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, glabrous, 2.8 to 9.8" [7 to 24 cm] long, laxly 12 to many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.
CAUTION The photos above are different than the drawing provided [shorter lip, shorter spur] which may be more correct but I do not have access to Lindley's original drawing and so cannot make a certain determination.
