Found in southwestern Sichuan, northwest Yunnan China, the eastern Himalayas and Nepal in mixed forests and on marshy streambanks in open scrub at eleavtions of 2400 to 3600 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a slender, glabrous, bracteate above stem with 2 to 3, basal, imbricating, lanceolate, acute to acuminate sheaths and carrying a single, linear-oblong, acute, long clasping base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal, glabrous, [1.4 to 2.8" [3.5 to 7 cm] long, laxly 3 to 8 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute to acuminate floral bracts.
