Found in central and south central Taiwan in alpine grasslands and forest margins at elevations of 2000 to 3200 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with oblong to lanceolate leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, 2.4 to 8.8" [6 to 22 cm] long, 7 to 20 flowered, racemose inflorescence with lanceolate bracts carrying fragrant flowers
