Found in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Costa Rica, French Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador at elevations of 200 to 1450 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with an erect, cane-like stem carrying green, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, acute, spotted white, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter and spring on a terminal, sessile, 1.6 to 2.5" [4 to 6.25 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence.
