Common Name Schneider's Platystele [Colombian Orchid Enthusiast 20th cen]

Found in Colombia on the central and eastern cordilleras at elevations of 1800 to 3000 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 thin, ribbed, imbricating sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-obovate, subacute leaf that is cuneate into the petiole and blooms in the summer on a subdense, flexuous, distichous, 2.4" [6 cm] long, successively many flowered, racemose inflorescence with 2 to 3 flowers open at a time and thin, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts
